Wild Boar
Boar Hunting
Pig hunting is a huge sport in New Zealand, mostly done with a pack of dogs to track and bail the hog. Once the dogs have got a hog held the hunters will run in and tip the hog and stick it in the heart with a knife. Although rather barbaric and not for everyone, if you are up to the challenge it is a huge adrenaline rush! Boars range in color phases; black, blue, grey, ginger, and multi-colored are common. We organize hog hunts with dogs and also hunt them with a rifle; to get a trophy boar with a rifle one of the best methods is baiting at night. Either way a big boar is an awesome trophy to hunt!
